Our 4th Of July

So normally our 4th of July consists of a BBQ at Josh's grandparents, with YUMMY food and a visit with all of the cousins. But not this year, we stayed in Albuquerque and tried to have fun anyway. I do have to say that the burgers just were not the same.
This is Keegs early in the day, getting ready to go to see fireworks.

We headed to Balloon Fiesta Park for the show. The boys are patiently waiting.

After arriving in 90 degree heat, the clouds and the rain came and we had to add layers to stay warm.

Just a pic of the clouds and rain.

A quick moving storm came through early on, cooling everything down nicely.

Mr. no smile

Our friends Val and Jenny. They are the travelers who worked with Josh at St. Marks and talked him into traveling. Thanks Guys.

And Finally, the show started!! It was AMAZING

We had a blast, the show was one of the best I have ever seen. The weather was great. Keegan loved it. So just one more thing we like about ABQ!!

Nothing new to report.

Not much to tell, we have just been enjoying the weather and our time in Albuquerque. Keegan and I go walking almost everynight that Josh works. Even if it isn't something I can consider as exercise. Keegan still has fun. Everynight at about 7:30 the sprinklers come on around the complex. He then gets to run through sprinklers or better yet....jump in the puddles. He usually endes up SOAKED and then demands a "nice warm bath"

We are still waiting to hear wether or not Josh's extension has been approved. We hope so, we have really liked ABQ. If we do extend that would put us here during the Balloon Festival. I am hoping that we get to see it.

"Pa" and Grandma come to Albuquerque

We had visitors again. Only 2 weeks after the previous ones. Keegan had a great time with "Pa" and Grandma. He kept them busy the entire time they were here. Constantly wanting them to go and play in his closet. For the record it is a decent sized walk-in and that is where I have all his toys as well as his Crayola magic light board.

Another visit to Old Towne
I am sure this is some well known guy on the horse, but I haven't really read the sign.

Tari found a hat she just couldn't resist.

I swear Keegan is under that hat.

Cowboy Keegan. He wasn't so sure if he wanted to do this but, his mean old mom made him.

While they were here we had to try a couple of Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-ins or Dives. They were both sooooo yummy!!!

Of course we made a trip over to the zoo.

We also went to Santa Fe, but we all forgot camera's. We did a chocolate walking tour of the city. It told us where all the fancy chocolate shops were. It was fun and very tasty too. All in all it was a great visit. Keegan can't wait to see them again. Thanks for coming down to the land of the chilies.

Just a funny little story

So, some of you know that my kid is a picky eater. He will eat most any fruit or veggie and bread products but NO meat. And well he is truly part Viehweg cause he LOVES ice cream like the rest of them. But tonight while "Pa" and Grandma were in town we went to the mall to kill some time. While we were there we decided to hit up the food court for a late dinner (we had an amazing lunch and weren't too hungry) They decided that they were going to eat at Edo. We asked Keegs multiple times if he was hungry, he was adamant that he was not. Well, since "Pa" was here he got a snow cone instead. Once they got there food they came and joined us were I was sitting with Keegan who was happily eating his snow cone. After a few bites "Pa" asks if Keegs wants some broccoli, to which he replies "Yes'' he then proceeds to eat all of the broccoli in the dish that they were sharing and then requested more. I had to go buy a side of broccoli for him. He ate the whole thing!!! Meanwhile, his snow cone, once pushed aside, sat there melting. Now tell me....what 3 year old chooses BROCCOLI over a SNOW CONE. Probably only mine. Oh well, I guess I don't mind too much. :)

Just Stuff

Not too much has gone on since our visitors have left. We have just enjoyed the weather, not too warm and a nice set of clouds rolls in by the afternoon to keep the heat down.
Keegan and I did make it over to the botanical gardens. They have an amazing play garden for the kids. Keegan had a great time.
Here he is inside a GIANT carrott.
The huge ants were all over.
Here he is next to the GIANT watering can.

Later in the week we all went to a place called ITZ. Kind of a nicer Chuck-e-cheese. It was sooo cheap but soo good. We got there before 3:00 pm so the buffett was 3.99 a person and Keegs was free!! How sweet is that!! Instead of tokens this place uses a point system and it was crazy expensive to buy points to play but for 14.95 you could buy a card with unlimited points that worked for 90 min. PERFECT!! Keegan had a great time and so did we. We found a couple of games that were so easy/stupid but gave out TONS of tickets. I mean how hard is it to cheat at wack-a-mole. with all three of us hitting them down......tickets out the wazooo.

This place also had to bounce house things. Keegs loved it. Here he is on the dinosaur that was in the bounce area.

This was a thing you lay on that moves and goes with the rollercoaster movie that you watch. Keegan had so much fun!! Josh liked it too. It reminded me a lot of the polar ride at Sea World. So much fun!!

Now less than 24 hrs until our next visitors!! more pics to come of the visit!!

Visitors

Last week we had visitors. Jacey and Jon came down to visit. We had a great week!! The first day they were here we wen to Old Town and looked around. We found a shop with MANY different varieties of HOT SAUCE WE all got a kick out of this one!
Colon Cleaner.
YIKES!!

Jon and Keegan in seriously cool cowboy hats

On the second day we went to the Rio Grande Zoo. This giraffe was just 1 wk old.

Somehow this is out of order. This is one of the churches in Santa Fe.

Outside the church there was a BIG tree. Granted if we were in Northern Cali, it would look tiny but Jon was amazed at how big the trunk was. I tried to get him to hug the tree, but aparently he isn't a "tree hugger"

And now back to the zoo. This baby was just so cute!

This was the previous chapel. It has a spiral staircase that has quite a history. The story of the staircase has actually been on Unsolved Mysteries. We wanted to go in but...time was almost up on our meter and so we had to head back to the car. Next time we will go check it out.

This is the big church in the middle of town. So pretty.

And I just can't get enough of this guy.

Him too. So cool.

We had a wonderful week with our visitors. We wish they could have stayed longer. Can't wait till the next wave of visitors gets here. Pa and grandma will be here next week.

A New Addition....FINALLY

One month late to the day!! We finally have a new baby horse. She was supposed to be born on April,23 and here is is finally on May,23. Can you imagine being pregnant for a whole year??
Brand new, just hours old with her sweet momma
I wish I could be there, they are soooo cute when they are little!!

It is amazing to see how light she is. The baby's daddy is a gorgeous cream colored Morgan(SUPER RARE). Almost all Morgan horses are a redish brown or dark brown like Emma. Because of the color of the dad there was the possibility of a Palimino like she is or a Buckskin (light color with black mane and tail) or a small chance she would have been a blackish color

So light she almost matches the hay

Such long legs!! Mimi is hoping she is taller than her momma

I just have to say I am SOOOO Jealous that Mimi and my Mom get to go see her on Monday. It was so much fun when Emma was a baby, wish I could be there!!!

"Mom look at that fast Chicken"

So here in Albuquerque we have roadrunners. They are all over and we see them almost everyday. Well, the other day as we were parking the car he yelled out "Mom, look at that fast chicken." When I look up, sure enough there is one running right outside the car.

Tell me, does this look like a chicken?

Lets Go Fly A Kite

So last week we decided that since it is always windy here we needed a kite. Keegan loved the idea so we made a trip to the local Wal-Mart and quickly found the kites in the toys section. On one end display there was 2 different kinds. One package had a 24" kite and the other package, for the same price, had 2 kites measuring 22''. So logically we chose the package with 2 kites. Well, we let Keegan choose, he chose Iron Man over Transformers. (We were pushing for Transformers) So we buy the kites and head off to a school to fly them. We get there and Josh opens the package and just starts laughing. One kite is as listed 22'' and looks good

Here is the other Iron Man kites
Now you will see why Josh started laughing.

The 2nd kite is smaller than my hand.

So needless to say, the packaging was very misleading.... I mean really, if I would have known that this was the second kite I would have said No Way!! We would have bought the bigger one. I mean serously, do you think this is even going to fly??

Anyhow, Keegan loves to run around the hose with the little one. So I guess there is some entertainment value in it. We have taken him out to fly the big one and loses intrest after about 5 min. Aparently throwing rocks is more fun.

Ocean Fun...no, we didn't go to the beach

Yesterday we went to the Albuquerque Aquarium. It was a lot of fun, we have also been to the Seattle Aquarium and I liked this one just as much. We bought a family pass so Keegan and I can go back when Josh is working. Yay!! When we got there it was feeding time. We got to see a lady in and open tank feeding some smaller rays, and then when we got to the big tank it was feeding time in there too. So much fun to watch.

The puffer fish was HUGE, I would say he was as long as Keegan is tall. And he always swam with his mouth open, kinda strange

Here is Keegan in front of the 1st big tank.

They have a model ship room, and then this big Captains Wheel. Keegs can't even see where he is taking us.

A sea turtle, all I could think about was... "Dude and then I was like Dude".... from Finding Nemo

A portal into the big tank

When I wanted him to look into the tank so that I could get a pic from the back he kept turning around and saying "Cheese"

The big tank at the end had the Biggest rays in it. This one was over 6 feet long (just a guess) but he was huge

Ahoy Matey!!

Here he is again, such a big ray. Keegan says that they are flying in the water. The guy in there was feeding the rays. It was a lot of fun to watch!! There are also sharks in there, I am not sure I would be in there during feeding time.

They have some smaller tanks as well, this one had a few Sea Horses. There were even little baby ones in there too.

Ooops Back to feeding time.

Well, there it is. Sorry they seem out of order, some of them are, and some are because Keegan kept running back and forth from tank to tank we saw it all more than once.

I think one of my favorite parts was the Jelly fish tank. They are so calm, they just bob along, so relaxing to watch.

Keegan says that his favorite part was the "fishy tunnel" it has a walkway where you are going through the tank in a tunnel.
Josh isn't sure that he had a favorite part. He is either really indifferent or he liked it all. I think he liked it all.
We can't wait to take Uncle Jon and Aunt Jace in a couple of weeks!!

Fun at the park!!

We have found quite a few nice parks and playgrounds. The weather here has been great, warm in the day and perfect in the afternoon/evening. The other night Josh didn't have to work so we all went to the park and had a really good time. Keegan discovered that he likes playing follow the leader, especially if he is the leader and daddy follows him all over the playground.
Keegan riding a dinosaur

Josh and his new ride

Keegan taking it for a test drive

Follow the leader

A view of the city from the top of the playground

So far everything here has been a lot of fun. We can't wait for our visitors at the end of the month!!
