Good Bye Tucson!!!

Despite my complaints about Tucson i.e. cactus, cockroaches, and the heat. There are some things that we will miss.
We can not complain about the mountain view we had. They are not the Wasatch mountains but it was nice to have them.

Pusch Ridge. Right out our door.

This is the view of the mountains when leaving the "Red Store" (target)

We had quite the storm yesterday. Here are some of the clouds that were hanging around after the storm.

Sunset at the park.

The only scorpion we saw while here was metal art.

One of our 2 favorite places to eat in Tucson.

Guac Live. The bring all of the ingredients out and make it right there in front of you. mmmmmmmm.

By far our favorite place to eat. We had never really tried sushi until we moved down here. we got brave on day and just asked our waiter, Dave, to tell us what to order. He made great suggestions and now we are addicted.

Tommy our favorite Sushi chef, he is great, he turned an orange into a motorcycle for Keegan. And as most of you know he is obsessed with motorcycles, so this was perfect.

The motorcycle up close. Keegan was very excited about it. We had to bring in home.

Our ultimate favorite. A caterpillar roll. On one of our other visits to the Sushi Garden Tommy took the time to make the roll look really cute, it had eyes, antannae and of course I didn't have my camera.

Since we were taking our time eating, and we were almost the only ones in the restaurant, Tommy took the time to make Keegan another orange. Keegan chose an elephant. It is fun to watch, it is like oragami for fruit.

So our time in Tucson is done, we leave tomorrow. We can't wait to get back to Salt Lake and have a great summer at home. Who knows where we are going next. I am pushing for a few places, we will see.

Like Father.....Like Son

So if there was ever any doubt about just how much Viehweg Keegan has in him....... Well, besides the matching butt chins, Patterson booty and feet that look exactly the same. Oh and their love for ice cream of any kind. Their TV watching manners are the same too.

Watching Clifford the Big Red Dog in their jammies, or in Keegans case his nakedness.
Again watching Clifford

Later that same day. Not sure what is on TV. If I had to guess it was probably TLC's Take Home Chef. And again our child that doesn't like to wear pants.

Up until now everything in the apartment has escaped the damage that can be done by a 2 year old. Until today, 4 days before we leave, Keegan manages to knock over and break the "lovely" plaster lamp on the table next to the sofa. I was sitting next to him and just couldn't get to it in time. Oh well, can't do anything about it now.

My Latest Project

My 3rd denim quilt. This one is for Tyler and was probably the most expensive. If any of you have heard me talking about Tyler, you would know why. When he decided that he wanted a quilt he went through his many, many pairs of jeans and gave me about 15 that he wouldn't wear any more. No let me just say, some of these were almost brand new. I couldn't cut them up. I know for a fact that one pair was only worn for a couple of months and then he got a tiny stain on it and went out and bought another pair exactly like it. So lucky for Jon he is the same size. So I swapped out practically new pairs for ones that Jon has given some good use. So after 2 nights of tracing and cutting squares, and 3 blisters later I was ready to start sewing. Once I get to this point it is almost an obsession. I just want to sew until it is done, and with Josh working nights I am able to do that. So Yay!!! Tyler's quilt is done. Maybe someday I will eventually do one for Josh and myself. Let the saving begin, ohhh if you think about it, save your old jeans and give them to me instead of throwing them away.

Well, one week from today we will be arriving in Salt Lake. No more Tucson. We haven't decided what we are going to do with ourselves for a whole month, but I am sure we will figure it out.

2 Weeks 1 Day.......not that we are counting.

Just some pictures from the last couple of weeks. We decided to drive up to Salt Lake 2 wks ago and surprise everyone. We had a great time. The reactions from all of the Grandparents and Aunt Jacey and Uncle Jon were great. My sister Mimi and Josh's sister Jen were the only ones that knew we were coming. Mimi needed to know so we didn't come blasting into their house in the middle of the night. Jen and Ben had to know so that they would actually be there for Sunday dinner. I think it just made us more anxious to get back there for the summer.

Keegan decided one night to try to sit in the sink while washing his hands. He was already stripped down to a diaper and for some reason climbed in. I remember this fitting better.

Keegan in one of his tents watching his favorite movie. Elmo in Grouchland.

More tub pictures, I think they are some of my favorite.

Keegan sporting a fishing vest. Watch out Island Park Keegan is on his way. (we didn't really buy it but it was dang cute.)

Back to the Zoo. He wouldn't stop and look up he just kept crawling through.

This should be at the top, but oh well. This is Keegs and Jon blowing bubbles.

2 weeks left and then we are out of this heat. I can't wait.

Just to have a new post

Josh informed me that he didn't like "our" new background for the blog. So here I am changing it so soon. If you haven't noticed, I hate to change it. It takes up too much time and since I do it so infrequently, it seems more difficult than in should be.

Tucson, what to say about Tucson. I am glad that we came down here but...... I am glad we don't have to stay here. We hate cactus and that is all that there is here. Even the trees have thorns. But that isn't even the worst part, living down here you learn that just because someone calls something by a different name doesn't change what it is. Calling a cockroach a waterbug doesn't make it any better. Growing up in a cooler climate cockroaches were something you only heard about. Everyone down here is so used to them, you just deal with them and it's no big deal. Well let me tell you, IT IS A BIG DEAL!!! I hate them. Yuck!

Well now, this is sounding like I haven't enjoyed my stay here. I have, don't get me wrong. I have enjoyed the apartment we are living in. It is well kept and with 6 pools to choose from you can always find an empty one. The weather is always great here, even when it is hot there are the previously mentioned pools. It has also been fun to explore a new place, Tucson really does have quite a few places that I am happy to be able to say that I have been to. (Even Kartchner Caverns).

I guess I am just looking forward the the 6 weeks we get to spend at "Home" thanks to my sister and her husband.

Watch out, 4 weeks and we will be back!!

Visitors

Once again Keegan was lucky enough to get a visit from Pa and Grandma. They came down last week and stayed for a few days. Keegs had a great time swimming, going to the park and being spoiled. Josh and I had a great time going out, just the 2 of us. We go to go and see a movie and go shopping. It was a lot of fun, something we haven't been able to do since we got here. Tucson is definitely getting warm, the weather man forecasts 105 degrees tomorrow. YIKES!!! I don't like it that hot. At least we have multiple pools to choose from.
Keegan leaping of the side of the pool. Pa is the arm you see on the bottom right.

Keegans new toy from Pa. It is kind of funny, when he tries to sneak up on you to shoot you he looks like Elmer Fudd.

I always thought a tri-cycle was easy but here is his first major crash. I wasn't looking and the next thing I here is him asking for heeyelp. (southern drawl and all)

Contract Extended!

Nothing new here in Tucson. Except that we are staying a month longer. We will be here until the end of June. Weather is getting warmer, yesterday was in the 90's. We go swimming almost everyday, hopefully Josh and I will have some sort of a tan (even if it is the farmer variety) when we come back. Keegan and I often go for a walk when Josh leaves for work. I walk to give the dog some exercise, Keegan loves to come along to look for bunnies. Right now a lot of the cactus are blooming, the prickly pear especially. The Seguro should be next.

Keegan in his green fishy float. He is so fearless. The first time I put him in the float he took off, kicking almost faster than I could keep up. He is ready to go!!!

And my favorite picture this week. Keegan and his crazy hair. I swear it was just an itch but the camera caught it just perfect. ha ha

Keegs is anxiously awaiting "Pa's" arrival. Paul is going to be riding his motorcycle down here to visit us. 12 hours on a motorcycle!! Yikes!!

Crikes Mate!!!

Back to the Wildlife Museum! Keegan and I tried to go to what sounded like a really cool dinosaur museum. To our surprise, when we got there it no longer existed. So then Keegan decided he wanted to see water buffalo. This place is so much fun. I have told you all this before. So I won't bore you all (all 6 of you) with all of the details. Any how, Tucson is Tucson. Warm, sunny and not a cloud in the sky.

Going for a ride.

We visited Mt. Lemmon. The southern most ski resort in the country.

Thanks for looking at another week in Tucson.

Ranch Dressing!!

No new pics right now, just a funny little story. The other night we went out to dinner at a steak house. (the one we tried to go to with Paul and Tari when they were here) The place is very western/cowboy like. Oh well the waitress was very nice, when she brought our salads out she also brought some carrot sticks and cucumber slices for Keegan. She also brought him a little side of ranch dressing. He LOVED dipping them in the ranch. Well, Josh and I are eating our salads and talking. I suddenly hear a slurping sound, I turn towards Keegan to see him drinking the ranch dressing right out of the little cup!!! I am so upset I didn't have the camera, he had a ranch dressing mustache that would have rivaled any milk commercial you have ever seen. Funny kid. Oh well, that was the most exciting thing for this week. I promise pictures next time.

Just another week in Tucson

We had another nice warm week here. Last week Keegan and I again went to the zoo. It is close, cheap and keeps him busy for a while. We got to feed the giraffes. This is Keegan and a Zoo keeper feeding Denver the Giraffe
Denver again, and Keegan a little unsure of the really long black tongue that he has.

Keegan at our favorite sushi restaurant, they gave him an umbrella with his drink. This is actually the second umbrella, he quickly broke the first one.

Jacey, Keegan and I went to another baseball game. We sat in the same place as usual, on the grass so Keegs could run around. Here is a picture of the sunset.

Keegan and Jacey in their matching "cow" shirts.

We had a great time with Jacey while she was here. I hope she had a good time even though Tucson is not most people's idea of a vacation spot.

Back to the Zoo

So the other day, Josh had to work and Keegan and I needed to get out. Instead of going to the same park that we go to at least 4 times a week, he and I went to the Zoo. We got there early, the weather was great, and the animals were all out. It was early enough that the trainers were all out working with the animals. Keegan got to feed the giraffe's, he thought it was great. He loves the giraffes anyway but then to get to feed them. I couldn't get a picture cause I had to hold him up. On our way out we decided to ride the train. Kind of a lame ride if you are an adult but to a 2 year old. Wow!!

All of the birds were feeling a bit "frisky" the zoo has a ton of peacocks

The zoo has 3 albino peacocks.

We went to another baseball game, this time it was the Sidewinders against the Salt Lake Bees. I think we were the only ones cheering for the Bee's. They were fun to watch, the players in the bull pen were the nicest. They threw a ball up to Keegan, he played with it through out the rest of the night. I was afraid he would accidentally end up throwing it onto the field. We were sitting on the lawn behind the outfield. The right fielder was close enough to hear Keegan yell "GO BEES". He would turn and wave. So cute, Keegan had a blast.
