New Mexico State Fair

Last week we decided it would be a lot of fun to go to the State Fair. If we are in Utah we always try to go to our fair up there. Well this year there was no way we would make it to the Utah State Fair....so the next best thing (actually a much better thing) was to go to the New Mexico State Fair. I just have to say, it is really big!! The amount of food and rides was amazing

We started out heading towards the animals. Obviously what Keegan would enjoy. He loved these little sheep, they wanted food but there was no way I was going to pay $2 for the tinest little amount of grain.

McDonalds sponsors an area for the kids called, what else.....McDonalds farm. Keegan had a great time. You start out by getting a basket and a set of directions. The first thing it has you do is collect an apple and some nuts from the first area...an orchard then tells you to head to the tractor barn..

Here is Keegan on the big tractor.

Now one more his size.

The farm hunt also had us go through a corn maze ( if you can call it that) collect some chicken eggs and also some wool that had been sheared. Then it had you take a ride on a horse. Probably not the best horse ride this kid has had but a cute picture anyway.

After the "horse ride" we went through a dairy barn where he learned how to milk a cow, and then on to picking produce. Here he is with his super cheesy smile and a basket full of produce.

After you pick all your produce you had to take it to the "market" to sell. It really just consisted of the kids sorting all of the stuff in their basket back in to separate baskets. They returned their basket and for payment they got a popsicle.
After that we went and saw more animals. We saw horses and part of a horse show, and cows that he got to pet.

After that we went to find the Tigers, yes I said tigers. They had a tiger show with 5 or 6 tigers. It was really fun, we didn't get to see very well but Keegan up on Josh's shoulders got to see well enough.
They also had a daredevil show, including a highwire motorcycle act and the motorcycle in a sphere. Keegan like those a lot, well they were motorcycles so of course he liked them. They also had these crazy ladies who climbed up these "Sway Poles" they were 75 feet tall and had NO safety nets or ropes.

They did all sorts of tricks even at one point trading poles.
We also wanted to let Keegan ride on a ride but they were REDICULOUSLY priced. So instead I will just take him to the mall to ride their merry-go-round.
Afterwards I asked him what his favorite part of the fair was and he responded "The horse show" definately winning brownie points with my mom on that one.

yea that sounds way better than the Utah State Fair- if the circus is still going on when you get back I think it would be fun to take Keegan.
